The Beyond Sciences Initiative (BSI) will be hosting:
The 2nd Annual International Remote Conference: Science and Society
28-29th, January 2017.
Registration is free and space is still available.
One of the most appealing aspects of this conference is that it is a remote access conference which means that as long as an individual registers and has an internet connection, they will be able to take part, even from the comfort of their own homes.
The conference format provides a platform for a diverse group of students, postdocs and established scientists to come together and discuss current issues affecting science such as advances in HIV cure research, healthcare reforms and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Another advantage of the conference is that registration is free and there are a number of awards designated for top presentations in the various categories.
The Beyond Sciences Initiative is a not-for-profit network that aims to provide the opportunity for scholars from all over the world to interact with each other. They provide mentorship programs and host the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship for international research travel which is available to citizens of Commonwealth countries.
The organisation also engages in local and international outreach programs. The conference is another way the organisation hopes to bridge the gap between scientists from across the globe and aid in the formation of international collaborations and exposure of research from all over the world.
The conference begins at 7am EST on the 28th January, 2017 and will be broadcast live from the BSI website. All registrants will have access to the conference through the website from wherever they are in the world. Currently, there are registrants from 36 countries and 60 different institutes.
The keynote speakers include Dr Josef Penninger from Austria who will be talking on the subject of breast cancer. Dr Katie Flanagan from Australia will be sharing on the challenges facing vaccination. Dr Thumbi Ndung’u from South Africa will be speaking on HIV functional cures and the Jennifer Towne who works in industry in the United States of America will be discussing the latest findings on therapeutics for autoimmune diseases.
